Tart Flambee

This summer, I drove to Lake Como,it was quite an adventure. On the way, we stopped in a small French-Swiss town called Saverne Saint John.

We arrived just in time for dinner and was offered their local speciality – Tart Flambeé. This is typically a sharing dish that is ordered one tart at a time until you’ve had enough.

This recipe tries to encapsulate the taste of this tasty dish whilst creating an incredibly easy yet impressive plate of food. What’s more, is that the toppings can be tailored to suit!

Ingredients

  • Tortilla wraps (gluten free)
  • Dairy free cream cheese
  • Onion
  • Bacon lardons
  • Greyer cheese – or alternative to make dairy free (This is a nice strong cheese which really gives it flavour)

To start, take an onion and a packet of lardons and cook down with some butter, salt and pepper.

Once the onion is soft and slightly caramelised and lardons are a little crispy take off the heat and leave to one side.

Spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto a wrap then sprinkle some onion and lardons on top. The mix should make around 5-6 depending on how much you want on each wrap!

Great some cheese on top and place under a grill for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted and wrap slightly crispy!

That’s it! Cut into 8 and share with your friends, family, or eat it all yourself!
