Vietnamese Pork Pho

  • 4 Pork Steaks
  • 150 ml Chicken Stock
  • 300 ml water
  • 1 Onion
  • Green Beans
  • 80 g Pasta/noodles
  • 1 Star Anise
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Oil
  • Fresh Coriander
  • 2 Spring Onions, chopped


  1. Fry the onions and green beans for 5-1o minutes until they soften. Add in the Star Anise and Cinnamon Stick and fry for a couple of minutes, ensuring not to burn.
  2. Add in the chicken stock and water, mixing thoroughly. Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat and simmer.
  3. Bring another pan to the boil and pop in the pasta. The pasta will take about 15 minutes to cook.
  4. Whilst the pasta is cooking, heat up a pan with a little oil and add in the pork steaks. Sprinkle over some salt and pepper to season.
  5. Fry for 10 minutes, turning halfway through the time, and cooking until there is no pink in the middle.
  6. Once cooked, place the pork on a chopping board and slice thinly.
  7. To plate up, drain the pasta and distribute in equal portions.
  8. Ladle out the broth equally and top with the sliced pork.
  9. Garnish with coriander and chopped spring onions.
